Turkey Mourns Lives Lost in Southern Africa Floods
“We are deeply saddened by the loss of lives due to the floods in southern Africa, affecting countries in the region, particularly Mozambique, Zimbabwe and the Republic of South Africa,” the Turkish Foreign Ministry said in a statement.
Ankara offered its condolences “to the families of those who lost their lives and to the peoples of all the affected countries,” while also wishing for a “speedy recovery to the injured.”
The floods have so far impacted more than 650,000 people and caused extensive damage to infrastructure, including roads, schools, and health facilities. Mozambique’s Gaza Province has been hit hardest, with at least 12 deaths reported across the country.
