Iraq Urges Emergency Arab Meeting Over Israel-Iran Conflict
According to a statement released by the Iraqi Foreign Ministry, Hussein made the appeal in a phone conversation with Egypt’s Foreign Minister Badr Abdelatty.
"The aim of the proposed meeting is to coordinate Arab positions in light of the rapid developments and to address the current challenges with a spirit of common responsibility," the ministry’s statement read.
The ministers reportedly reviewed the latest regional developments, focusing particularly on the intensifying confrontation between Israel and Iran and its broader impact on Middle Eastern stability.
In a separate development the same day, Hussein also held a call with his Turkish counterpart Hakan Fidan. Both ministers emphasized the significance of the upcoming OIC gathering, especially as regional dynamics continue to shift rapidly, according to a second official statement.
The Iraqi and Turkish diplomats stressed the necessity of bolstering diplomatic cooperation among Islamic nations to safeguard the region and prevent further escalation.
The 51st session of the Council of Foreign Ministers of the OIC is scheduled to take place this Saturday and Sunday in Istanbul, Turkish officials confirmed.
